DID Garbage Collection
The DID Garbage Collection tool scans your Bandwidth account for orphaned phone numbers — numbers that exist in Bandwidth but are no longer properly tracked in DialStack.
When to Use
Run a scan periodically or after bulk account deletions to identify and clean up orphaned numbers that may be incurring unnecessary charges.
How It Works
The tool compares your Bandwidth phone number inventory against the DialStack database:
- Scan — Fetches all phone numbers from Bandwidth and cross-references them with the database
- Review — Displays orphaned numbers in a table with the reason each is considered orphaned
- Disconnect — Select numbers to disconnect from Bandwidth
Orphan Reasons
| Reason | Description |
|---|---|
| Not in database | The number has your environment's voice configuration but no matching record exists in the database |
| Released | The number exists in the database with a "released" status but was never disconnected from Bandwidth |
| Soft deleted | The number's database record has been soft-deleted |
| Account deleted | The number's parent account has been deleted |
| No voice config | The number exists in Bandwidth but has no voice configuration package assigned (informational — cannot be selected for disconnect) |
Disconnecting Numbers
- Run a scan
- Review the results — numbers with "No voice config" cannot be selected (they may belong to another service)
- Select the numbers you want to disconnect using the checkboxes
- Click Disconnect selected and confirm
Disconnecting a number releases it back to the carrier. This action cannot be undone.
