Number Porting

Open Number Porting from the menu in the top navigation. The page lists the port orders the losing carrier rejected, and has a portability check you can run before a sale.

Check portability

Use the check early in the sales process, before you order hardware, to find out whether a prospect's numbers can move to DialStack. It is not tied to an account, so you can run it before the customer has one.

  1. Click Check portability at the top of the page.
  2. Enter up to 100 US numbers, one per row. Press Enter for another row, or paste a whole list into any row: one per line, separated by commas, or a spreadsheet column. Most formats work, such as (770) 212-6011, 770-212-6011 or +17702126011.
  3. Click Check.

An entry that can't be checked is flagged in its row, for example Not a valid US number or Toll-free numbers can't be checked here. Every other number gets a row in the results, in the order you entered them:

ColumnWhat it tells you
NumberThe number you entered.
StatusPortable or Not portable. No answer means no result came back for the number; check it again.
Current carrierThe carrier the number is with today, when it is known.
DetailsWhat to collect from the customer for a portable number, or why the number cannot be ported.

Details

DetailWhat it means
WirelessA mobile number. Wireless carriers usually also ask for the account's port-out PIN, so collect it from the customer.
Account number requiredThe current carrier requires the customer's account number on the port order.
Carrier not supportedThe number's current carrier is one DialStack can't port from.
Area not coveredDialStack has no porting coverage in the number's area.
No porting information for this numberThe number was refused with no porting information. Check it for typos, and with the customer that it is still in service.
This number can't be portedThe number can't be ported for another reason.

A number that checks as portable can still be rejected when the port order is submitted, for example when the customer's details do not match the current carrier's records.

Rejected port orders

Rejected Port Orders lists port orders across your accounts that the losing carrier rejected. Each one needs attention before it can go through. Search by account or phone number, or filter by rejection reason, then open an order to correct it and resubmit. See Handling rejections for how to fix and resubmit an order.
