Resale Certificate
We sell you hardware for resale and compute no sales tax on it. That treatment depends on having a current resale certificate on file, so hardware ordering is unavailable until one has been accepted.
You can find your certificate's status under Payment Settings on your platform.
The five states

Uploading does not unblock ordering on its own. An upload starts a review; only acceptance makes a certificate current. That is why "in review" is still a blocked state.
Uploading a certificate
- Go to Payment Settings on your platform.
- Under Resale certificate, choose your file.
- Select every jurisdiction the certificate covers. One certificate can name several, and you tick each one.
- Enter the expiry date printed on the certificate. Leave it blank if the certificate does not expire.
- Select Upload. Accepted formats are PDF, PNG and JPEG, up to 10 MB.
You tell us what the document says, so our review is a check against it rather than us re-typing it. If what you selected does not match the document, we send it back and say what to fix.
You can have one submission in review at a time. If you uploaded the wrong file or picked the wrong jurisdictions, select Withdraw this submission on Payment Settings — that clears it and lets you upload again straight away. Withdrawing never touches a certificate that is already on file.
If your certificate is sent back
Our team may send a certificate back — for example if the scan is cut off, the document has already expired, or it does not name your business. The reason appears on the Payment Settings page, so you can fix exactly what was wrong and upload again.
Renewals and expiry
Uploading a renewal while your current certificate is still valid never pauses ordering. Your existing certificate stays in force until the renewal is accepted, so it is always safe to renew early — and it is the right thing to do once you see the "expiring" state.
Your certificate moves to the expiring state 60 days before it lapses, and that state is shown on Payment Settings along with the number of days remaining. Check there for how long you have — email reminders are not sent yet.
What happens if it expires
An expired certificate blocks new checkouts only:
- Orders you have already paid for still ship. Nothing is cancelled.
- A draft order is not deleted. It simply cannot be checked out until a current certificate is back on file, and it is waiting for you when one is.
Which jurisdictions?
One certificate covers your platform, keyed to your own tax nexus — where your business is registered for sales tax. If your certificate names several jurisdictions, select all of them; you do not need a separate certificate per state.
What you select is not matched against where each order ships, so an order drop-shipped to one of your accounts in another state is not treated differently.
We record the jurisdictions you tell us the document covers; we do not advise on whether they are the right ones. Making sure your resale registration is valid for how you resell is your responsibility.
Certificates that do not expire
Some jurisdictions issue resale certificates with no expiry date. Leave the expiry blank when you upload one. It then stays on file permanently — it never moves to expiring or expired, and you will never be asked to renew it.
We need it from you
Every certificate has to be uploaded here, by you. Our team cannot enter one on your behalf — including a certificate you sent us by email in the past. The point of you selecting the jurisdictions and the expiry is that you are the one stating what the document says.
If we are holding a certificate for you from before, upload it here once; ordering is unblocked as soon as it is accepted.
